This will always be one of my favorites. I had an epiphany at 1:14 am about this idea and had to get out of bed and write it down for fear of forgetting it. We often hear that word “sacrifice” in context such as “Do you know how much I had to sacrifice to get ….”, and in most cases it involves having to do something you don’t want to do to get something that you want. How about choosing to do something that no one wants to do so that others can benefit? That’s true sacrifice and that’s the one we should be truly thankful for.

Philippians 2:8 – And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross. (NIV)

2 Corinthian 5:21 - He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (HCS)

The Bible tells us that the wages, or the cost, of our sin is death. The Bible also tells us that Jesus, God’s son, lived a sinless life. He had no price to pay, yet he put his life in the place of your’s and mine and endured the pain of death by being nailed to a cross. His sacrifice atones for our sins.
